Hexis
manufacture a wide range of coated and uncoated media for conventional inkjet,
solvent inkjet, eco-solvent inkjet and thermal transfer. Hexis digital printing
media have successfully been tested on Roland, HP, Encad, Epson, Mimaki, Mutoh
and many other printers. Please check our compatibility
chart to ensure that the chosen media work with your printer. For an
explanation of technical words have a look at our downloadable Glossary
of Inkjet Terms. Proper calibration and use of the ICC color profile appropriate for your RIP software avoid excessive ink deposit and ensure accurate color reproduction. Bleeding, mottling, banding and warping all can be linked to poor calibrating and profiling. Banding may also be caused my misdirected or clogged nozzles. In this case running a cleaning cycle on your printer should resolve the problem. You may have to adjust printer transport and feeding for different types and thicknesses of media. When
handling printing media cotton gloves should be worn to prevent contamination.
Always keep printing media away from dust and avoid contact with oils, paints
and solvents. For
some indoor and most outdoor applications we strongly recommend the application
of a clear overlaminate. Lamination films increase resistance against UV rays
and provide protection against pollution and abrasion and thus improve the
overall durability of the print. Choose Hexis V700 laminate with UV filter for
optimized protection. Allow
sufficient drying time between printing and laminating. Drying time may vary
depending on the media and on environmental conditions such as temperature and
relative humidity. Although most media are touch dry after few minutes we
recommend 24 hours before laminating. Both
the print media and the laminate should have the same temperature. The minimum
application temperature is +10°C (+50°F). Best results are achieved with cold
(pressure sensitive) lamination films on motor-driven squeeze roll applicators.
Heat activated laminates should not be used on vinyl or polyethylene. For
outdoor applications the laminate should be applied with a 2cm (0.75in) overlap
beyond the print media to seal the edges. The
choice of a gloss, luster or matt surface finish can further enhance the
appearance of the print. For
the application of the laminated print to the target surface we recommend the
use of a low tack transfer tape. Use a soft squeegee to activate the adhesive
and remove the tape. Use
of tape and squeegee on unlaminated prints is not recommended. Store
unprinted media in a plastic sleeve in their original carton standing upright at
15 to 25°C (59 to 75°F) and 50% relative humidity. In order to maximize
printing performance and adhesion properties use digital printing media within
12 months from date of purchase. The
