SUPTAC is a new generation of high performance sign vinyl that uses the latest PVC formulation and production technology. The vinyl gives the product improved gloss, freedom from mottling, superb conformability, excellent outdoor durability and exceptional cutting and weeding performance. Cutting and weeding Surface preparation Adhesion is best when the target surface is flat and smooth. Thus we do not recommend application onto untreated, dusty or friable substrates where the surface contact is reduced such as on wood, fabric, foam, unglazed ceramics, brickwork, plaster, raw concrete and embossed or grainy surfaces. Care should also be exercised with plasticized materials and substrates prone to outgassing such as fiberglass, polycarbonate and certain paints and varnishes. Transfer To remove the silicone paper from the vinyl the film should be laid upside down, i.e. with the application tape on the work surface and the silicone paper face up. Position the vinyl on the target surface and peel the silicone paper gradually as you progress over the work surface. The silicone paper should always be peeled back from the vinyl, never the other way round. Using the squeegee and firm pressure wipe the vinyl down in wide sweeps and remove the application tape by peeling it back at a 180° angle. Never use a plastic squeegee directly on the vinyl surface. To ensure correct adhesion on curved and other difficult areas once the application tape is removed, carefully wipe again with a HEXIS felt squeegee. When working on corrugations treat each corrugation as an individual item and do not force the vinyl into corners or corrugations thereby overstretching the film, as this may cause shifting of the adhesive and subsequent delaminating. When applying over rivets or weld seams use a burnishing tool such as a rivet brush and circular motion to press the vinyl into place ensuring perfect contact with the target surface.Extreme care should be taken when applying warm air from a heat gun. Temperatures must not exceed +50°C (120°F) and a practice trial should be carried out before final application. Storage In order to maximize performance and adhesion properties use the material within 12 months from date of purchase. For additional product information consult the data sheets. For advice on specific substrates check out the Guide to Substrates. In general please note, the performance of the adhesive is affected by a number of factors such as temperature, humidity, surface condition and application method. Our suggestions and recommendations for the use of HEXIS products are based on tests and experience and do not constitute a warranty. The user must ensure the suitability of any product for his intended purpose under his own working conditions prior to purchase. If in doubt about the compatibility of the adhesive, the vinyl film or the degreaser with any particular target surface we recommend that you carry out a trial on an inconspicuous area before application or seek advise from the manufacturer. In all cases refer to the data sheet.
